Oft-Injured Dumars Decides To Leave Michigan Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan guard Jordan Dumars is leaving the school's basketball team.

Dumars, the son of Detroit Pistons president Joe Dumars, is expected to remain at the university but says injuries have taken a toll on him. He transferred from South Florida midway through the 2009-10 season but didn't play a game at Michigan because of knee and shoulder injuries.

Coach John Beilein says Dumars worked hard to get back on the court, and he says Dumars is "a wonderful young man, with a very bright future."

Dumars says the injuries the last two years have been difficult and he needs to move on from basketball. He says he'll "always be a Wolverine."
