Officer Killed In Motorcycle Accident Laid To Rest
NEW BALTIMORE (WWJ) - A New Baltimore police officer killed in a motorcycle accident this past weekend is being laid to rest Friday.
The wife of slain police officer Patrick Wisniewski spent time prior to his funeral remembering happy times the family shared.
Jennifer Wisniewski recalled with a laugh, a family outing to an Ohio zoo; a trip they had hoped to repeat this summer...
"I know this sounds silly, but you guys, I have a video of a buffalo's head right here ...licking my husband -- in the car. The whole family was there, but we went at the beginning of the season, so some of the animals weren't out. So, we had a goal to put all of those babies back in the car and go again just to experience that, as silly as it may sound," said Jennifer.
Prior to his funeral, Wisniewski spoke. The mother of five says whenever she thinks of her husband, there's one memory that always makes her smile:
"And when I close my eyes and see him, I see him standing there, it's his stature, his demeanor and his wittiness," she said. "To always be able to come up with something witty off the top-of-his head ... right now I'm seeing him very strong."
She fought back tears while thanking all of the people and organizations that have lent support since her husband's death.
Officer Wisniewski, a reservist with the department, was to have become a full-time police officer in August. He was killed Sunday when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a car.
The driver remains jailed on $250,000 bond and faces charges of driving on a suspended license which resulted in death and driving while intoxicated.
