OCC Commencement Goes Social
AUBURN HILLS -- Oakland Community College's spring commencement speaker wants his audience on their smartphones while he speaks on Saturday.
Hajj Flemings, CEO and Founder of Brand Camp University, is incorporating social media into his commencement address entitled "Reinvention" to the 2013 graduating class of OCC.
The commencement begins at 2 p.m. at the Palace at Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills.
Using the hashtag #occgrad13, Flemings is encouraging tweeting Facebook posting during the event, as well as in the days leading up to it and afterward.
Graduates and their families are asked to share congratulatory messages, thank you to faculty and staff, and farewells to classmates. The college Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/OCCofficial and the Twitter site is https://twitter.com/OCCollege.
Flemings founded Brand Camp University in 2008 and has grown it into the largest personal branding conference in the Midwest. He has since expanded the conference to Boston, New York, Las Vegas and Austin. He recently founded Student Ventures to teach middle and high school students in underserved communities to code and launch startups.
