Oakland University To Hold Presidential Debate
AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - The Presidential race is just in the formation stage right now, with lots of decisions still to be made by would-be candidates. WWJ's Rob Sanford said one thing is for sure: Oakland University will play a key part in the discussion this fall.
It was announced a couple of weeks ago that Oakland University will be the host of a Republican Presidential debate in November. The event will be televised on CNBC and will feature many of the announced candidates.
Michigan GOP Chairman Bob Schostak said the university is a natural location for a debate.
"We feel hosting the debater here in Southeast Michigan, part of the automotive industry, pointing right to the issues of the day, will be great for the presidential candidates to come to Michigan."
Among the announced candidates on the Republican side is Livonia Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, who's national campaign headquarters have been set up in Plymouth.
