Nuspire Networks Partners With Ohio Independent Automobile Dealer Association
Commerce Township-based Nuspire Networks has entered into a partnership with the Ohio Independent Automobile Dealer Association.
Nuspire says the program is the first of its kind, providing independent automobile dealers access to a network security offering that previously was only available to major brand auto dealers. The partnership will provide OIADA members with the expertise and systems needed to properly protect their business networks for compliance with state, industry, and federal regulations. Nuspire has long standing, successful programs with automotive OEMs, including General Motors and Subaru of America.
The automotive industry as a whole has faced increasing pressure from regulations to protect dealership networks and customer data. The modern dealership relies on a secure and efficient computer network to handle day-to-day business functions. Ramifications for a data breach can have a devastating outcome for a dealer. The average cost of a data breach has risen to $6.75 million in 2009, according to the Ponemon Institute's annual study.
Tony Petcou, Nuspire Partner Program manager says about the partnership: "We are very excited to partner with the OIADA and to move our services into the independent dealer space. Having a history of success in the automotive vertical, the benefits seemed evident on both ends. The potential cost associated with regulation non-compliance far outweighs the costs of implementing the proper solutions, and now all members will have a resource for proper network management. Jim Mitchell, OIADA Director, expressed a great deal of care for every one of the members, and we are excited to participate in this program."
Said Mitchell: "We feel that the Nuspire solution is the most beneficial system to be provided to the used car dealer in the past ten years and we also feel that all of our members will benefit greatly through their involvement with this new internet security program."
The OIADA was founded in January of 1985 by a group of 10 independent auto dealers and two auction owners as the Auto Dealer Alliance of Ohio. The ADAO formally affiliated the association with the National Independent Auto Dealers Association on March 11, 1985, making it the recognized state association for independent auto dealers in Ohio, thus making the association part of a national organization that has grown to over 20,000 dealer members. The name was changed to the current OIADA in late 2003=. The National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1946, has represented quality independent automobile dealers for over 60 years. NIADA assists its members in becoming more successful within the used motor vehicle industry.
