Nursing Home Custodian Accused Of Sex Assault
A custodian at a Rochester Hills nursing home is in police custody accused of improper sexual behavior with elderly patients.
The 51-year-old employee of the MediLodge Nursing Home is in police custody after he was allegedly found standing in front of an 84-year-old woman with this pants and underwear down. A Nurse's Assistant saw what happened and immediately reported the incident.
Oakland County Sheriff's detectives say there is the possibility that the custodian may have been involved in two similar incidents at the nursing home, within the past six months. These may have involved other female residents, one 69 years old and the other 94.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard tells WWJ that those with a loved one in a nursing home should always ask questions.
"You have to have good confidence in the home and the staff and what kind of checks they do. But, again, this individual didn't have a criminal history," Boschard said.
Bouchard said MediLodge officials are cooperating with detectives in investigating these incidents.
The custodian, who is a resident of Orion Township, had worked at the nursing home for three years. He is now lodged at the Oakland County Jail.
The case will be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday.
