Nuremberg And The Nazis
A controversial film that was created by the U.S. Government more than 60 years ago, (and then consequently suppressed by the U.S. Government for years) is making its Detroit debut this weekend. The film is a documentary titled "Nuremberg." It's the official U.S. government film footage of the prosecution of top Nazi war criminals like Hermann Goering, and Rudolph Hess (among others) after World War II.
DIA film expert, Elliot Wilhelm says this film is both important ... and disturbing.
"It's witness after witness, those are human beings, who are lying to their core, about the most important subject of them all. It's an important cautionary tale. There is a lesson in what happened in Nazi Germany for today."
The film is being shown this weekend at the Detroit Film Theatre at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Showtimes are Saturday at 4pm, and Sunday at 2 p.m..
