Novi Man Pleads Guilty To Sister's Knife Slaying
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 59-year-old southeastern Michigan man accused of fatally stabbing and nearly severing the head of his sister before dumping her body in a park has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
Marc Rosenthal of Novi made the plea Monday in Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac. He faces an automatic penalty of life in prison without parole when Judge Martha Anderson sentences him June 13.
The body of Southfield resident Ilene Moore was found Dec. 9 at Kensington Metropark in Milford.
The Oakland Press says Moore may have confronted Rosenthal over his use of money set aside for care of their father, who has dementia.
The state Center for Forensic Psychiatry found Rosenthal competent to stand trial.
Defense lawyer Todd Kaluzny earlier asked that the charge be reduced to second-degree murder.
