Notre Dame's Brian Kelly Gives Programs A Fighting Chance
Tim Selgo wanted to be there for Brian Kelly's first game as coach at Notre Dame, and the schedules aligned.
Selgo, who has been Grand Valley State's athletic director since 1996, got the chance because the Lakers opened their season on a Thursday in Allendale, and Notre Dame played Purdue on Saturday.
"I'm extremely proud of what he's accomplished," Selgo said. "I'm highly confident he's going to do great things at Notre Dame."
When Selgo arrived in Allendale, Kelly already had raised the profile of the program in five seasons as coach but stumbled trying to win in the playoffs.
