Crews continue work after Northville water main break causes flooding
(CBS DETROIT) - Crews are working to repair a water main break that has caused flooding in Northville.
The Great Lakes Water Authority says at about 3:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, crews discovered a break on a 30-inch water transmission main located on Baseline Road between Novi Street and Oakland Avenue.
This has caused flooding in the area, and residents may experience low water pressure. No boil water advisory has been issued at this time.
As of 9 a.m. Friday, GLWA field service crews isolated the break and closed two vales on the transmission main. GLWA says crews are dewatering the break site to evaluate the situation and determine how repairs can be made.
On Friday evening, GLWA Field Service crews were able to remove most of the water from the break site using large pumps.
As of Saturday, crews are expected to remove additional pavement around the site and place a trench box to make it safe for them to inspect the pipe and find materials required for the repair, GLWA said.
