'No Surprises' In President's Remarks On Syria Says Local Prof
DETROIT (WWJ) - Among those closely listening to the President's speech Tuesday night was Oakland University Political Science Professor, Dr. Dave Dulio -- who felt there were no big "surprises".
"He took it step by step and laid out the intelligence that the United States has as rational for wanting to take action and finally address the diplomatic path that may have represented itself in the last couple of days," said Dulio. " He got right to the point and did exactly what he needed to, now if it works - is another question?"

Dr. Dulio says it became clear days ago that the President does not have the support in Congress -- at least not yet -- for military action in Syria.
Michigan Congressman Mike Rogers supports the President on the issue of responding to Syria, he tells WWJ he understands the other side:
"I completely understand why people are skeptical of this," said Rogers. "I am frustrated with this president and his steps on Syria and other foreign policy issues that got us to the place we are today."
"Small and effective now, saves big and ugly later," Rogers said.
