No Injuries Reported After Dryer Fire At Michigan Jail

SAGINAW (AP) — Authorities say a basement dryer fire at a Michigan jail forced them to move inmates and workers upper levels of the facility.

The fire broke out Friday morning at the Saginaw County Jail, about 85 miles northwest of Detroit. No one was injured and it was quickly extinguished.

Sheriff William Federspiel says those on the basement and the first floor levels of the jail were moved out due to smoke. In all, he says more than 100 inmates and workers were moved. He says smoke was being cleared from the building and water from sprinklers also was being cleaned up.
