No Bond For Pontiac Man In Sex Assault, Murder
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 42-year-old Pontiac man has been charged in the sexual assault and murder of a 32-year-old woman whose body was found floating in a lake last month.
Bobby Taylor was arrested for a parole violation in an unrelated case. But police say he quickly because a suspect when DNA evidence was taken during Rosaline Ransom-Lee's autopsy.
Taylor was also charged in an attempted sexual assault for a separate crime that took place last year. Prosecutors say, in that case, Taylor entered a home and attempted to sexually assault a sleeping woman — but she fought him off.
According to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, Taylor has numerous prior convictions for possessing stolen property, dangerous drugs, aggravated assault, escape from prison and habitual fourth offender for which he was on parole. He was released from prison in May of 2012 and is currently on parole until May of 2014.
Said Sheriff Mike Bouchard, in a statement, "I am extremely proud of our team, including the investigators and our crime lab professionals. This was great old fashion police work merged with current high-tech capabilities. Unrelated stranger attacks in both of the charged cases are unusual but also often difficult to solve."
Bond was denied Taylor's arraignment Thursday in the 50th District Court in Pontiac. He was remanded to custody.
