Nicklaus Coming To Grand Rapids To Honor Ford
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Golf legend Jack Nicklaus will be in Grand Rapids next month to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of President Gerald Ford.
The 73-year-old will speak at a luncheon on Sept. 12, at the JW Marriott's International Ballroom.
Proceeds from the event will be used for curriculum development at a new learning center being built at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.
It costs $100 to attend "A Conversation with Golf Legend Jack Nicklaus," which includes lunch.
Ford's son, Steve, says Nicklaus "played many rounds of golf with" the president, "and he was a close family friend for many of those years."
Nicklaus served as an honorary pallbearer during Gerald Ford's funeral in 2007.
