New Buick Could Be Built At Orion Plant

Buick is reportedly about to get a new compact car, which will be built at General Motors factory in Orion Township.

A person briefed on the matter says GM plans to announce on Thursday that Buick will get a luxury version of the Chevrolet Cruze that will be called the Verano. The Cruze is a new compact that is just reaching dealerships.

The Verano will be built at the Orion Township Plant, near Pontiac, Mich. The person says it will bring more jobs to the factory, which is being retooled to make the Chevrolet Aveo subcompact next year.

The Buick Verano will go on sale at the start of 2012.

The person did not want to be identified because the announcement is not official.

A GM representative could not immediately be reached for comment.
