Nerves On Edge As Random Shootings Continue
WIXOM (WWJ) - Many people are on edge after at least 15 shootings in Oakland, Livingston and Ingham Counties this week.
About 5 of those shootings, at cars and people, occurred in Wixom, where Bryan Burkmyer lives with his family.
"Just kind of a nightmare scenario, right? ... You like to feel safe in your community and when something goes on like this - it just gives you an uneasy feeling," said Burkmyer to WWJ's Beth Fisher.
Burkmyer says he and his family are being more vigilant and not driving as much at night. They did go to their daughter's soccer game Saturday, but he says Wixom police were there.
Melanie, who did not want to give her last name, is from Milford, and says she's nervous because she has a three-year-old child.
"I'm just going the opposite ways of where they seem to be shooting at but now I see it's kind of spreading out to other areas," said Melanie. "I'm doing all I can to be observant, that's about it."
Melanie says she's not staying home more, because she says you have to continue to function.
