Neighborhood Walks To Focus On Southfield Curb Appeal
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ/AP) - Elected leaders and city staff will begin canvassing Southfield neighborhoods in an effort to step up code enforcement and maintain the Detroit suburb's curb appeal.
The Neighborhood Walks begin Saturday morning and will run through Sept. 12.
The city says the walks will focus on identifying any potential code or appearance issues that will be addressed by the appropriate municipal department.
Acting code enforcement manager Maria Calhoun says the "main objective is code compliance in the areas of health, safety or appearance violations."
Common residential concerns include:
- Lack of landscape maintenance, including mowing and weed removal
- Trash cans stored in public view, or debris or trash visible from the street
- Inoperable vehicles, boats, trailers or equipment stored in public view
- Poorly maintained house paint, trim, garage doors or siding
- Barking dogs, animal control issues or other general nuisances
.
Residents are invited to take part in the walks.
