Neighbor Charged In Grosse Pointe Park Woman's Slaying
GROSSE POINTE PARK (WWJ/AP) - A man suspected in the strangulation death of his 35-year-old Grosse Pointe Park neighbor has been arraigned on a first-degree murder charge.
Myron Tyrone Williams appeared Monday in Grosse Pointe Park Municipal Court.
Sebrina Gianino's body was found May 15 at the flat she shared with her boyfriend on Wayburn Street, near Alter and Jefferson Ave. The boyfriend was questioned by police and released, and Williams was quickly identified as a person of interest.
Williams was arrested on separate marijuana charges, but they were dismissed last week at Wayne County prosecutors' request because release of evidence in that case would have interfered with the murder investigation.
Williams, 42, also is charged with unarmed robbery. He is no longer is represented by the lawyer who handled the drug case and is expected to get a new lawyer for the murder case.
Grosse Pointe Park Police Chief David Hiller said Willams is being treated as a habitual offender. Police aren't saying what the motive may have been.
A preliminary hearing is set for July 29.
