Nearly Naked Man Arrested After Threatening Motel Guest With Gun
FERNDALE (WWJ) - Ferndale police say a 69-year-old man was arrested after threatening another man at the Motorama Motel with a gun.
Arnold Parker was arraigned on an assault charge Tuesday in 43rd District Court by Magistrate James Brennan, who set a $1,500 personal bond.
Police say the charge stems from an incident that happened around 4:15 a.m. Monday at the motel, located on 8 Mile Road near Woodward Avenue.
A 47-year-old man who was staying at the motel told police that he was going to his room when Parker came out of another room room, wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist and brandishing a handgun.
The man told police that Parker pointed his gun at him, yelled for him to get away from his car and called him names. The man said he ran inside his motel room, where he called police.
Officers responded to the motel and made contact with Parker on the phone. Police say Parker willingly went out of his room to meet with officers and was arrested without incident.
Investigators recovered a .44 magnum sem-auto pistol believed to be the weapon Parker held when he confronted the victim. They also recovered a Remington Model 700 rifle. Police say both guns were legally registered to Parker.
According to police, Parker had been living at the motel for several months. After his arrest, Parker allegedly told police he didn't realize the man had also been staying at the motel, and that he confronted him because he thought the man had been stalking him for several days.
