Ndamukong Suh Named To NFC Pro Bowl Team
ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh can thank the San Francisco 49ers for making it to this year's NFC Pro Bowl team. Suh is the third Lions player this year named to the Pro Bowl, the most by the Lions since the team had three players selected to the 2005 Pro Bowl.
Suh will replace 49ers defensive tackle Justin Smith, who won't be playing because San Francisco is in the Super Bowl. Suh joins teammates WR Calvin Johnson (named a starter but will not play) and LS Don Muhlbach on the Pro Bowl roster.
Suh has now earned Pro Bowl nods in two out of his first three seasons in the NFL. He is the first Lions defensive lineman to earn two Pro Bowl nods since DT Shaun Rogers (2005-06), and he is the first Lions player to earn a trip to the Pro Bowl in two of his first three NFL seasons since RB Barry Sanders who earned Pro Bowl selections (1990-99) in all 10 NFL seasons.
In 2012, Suh registered 8.0 sacks, his second-highest tally of his career. He had the second-most sacks (most in NFC) among defensive tackles.
