NBA's Stern Says Pistons Sale Moving In Right Direction
DETROIT (WWJ) - It appears the Detroit Pistons could have a new owner very soon.
WWJ's Jeff DeFran reports NBA Commissioner David Stern says he expects Tom Gores will have a deal to buy the Pistons within a week.
During his annual State of the NBA address Saturday in Los Angelos, Stern called negotiations between businessman Tom Gores and the Pistons "very intense" and in "their final stages."
Stern says it should be clear whether or not a deal with go through within the next week. And he says quote, "every indication is there will be a deal."
Gores has been in exclusive negotiations with the Pistons and owner Karen Davidson recently said she is "cautiously optimistic" that a deal will get done soon.
