'CBS Evening News' Airs Live From Birmingham Friday
BIRMINGHAM (CBS Detroit) Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is sitting down for the first time with a national news anchor since his pick of Paul Ryan as running mate.
It promises to be a "wide-ranging interview on the campaign trail."
And if the background on "CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley" looks familiar, it should: The interview is happening in Birmingham, Mich. In fact, Pelley's entire broadcast Friday night will be live from Birmingham. "CBS Evening News" broadcasts locally 6:30 to 7 p.m. on CBS 62.
During the show, an excerpt of the Romney interview will air; the rest will broadcast on CBS 62 during the week of August 27 alongside CBS News' prime time coverage of the Republican National Convention.
This comes as Romney brings his running mate Ryan to the battleground state of Michigan for the first time Friday for a campaign rally. The two are expected to make an afternoon appearance at Long Family Orchard Farm and Cider Mill Commerce Township. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. for the public event.
It's on the heels of Vice President Joe Biden's appearance in Flint, where he lambasted Ryan and Romney for being "out of touch," and Romney specifically for his New York Times opinion piece titled "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt."
Saying Obama would definitely win a second term, Biden unleashed the line: "Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive."
