Napolitano Wants International Aviation Standards

When it comes to aviation security, is the international community using the same play book?  "Not so much right now." says U.S. Secretary of Transportation Janet Napolitano. Speaking to WWJ, Napolitano says the meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Canada next week is designed to come up with a uniform strategy.

"One of the major elements of the international economic system is being able to move people easily through air, and if you lose confidence in that air system, you've lost quite a bit."  Napolitano said.

Napolitano believes a safe international aviation system is critical to everyone's economic survival.

Napolitano stressed,  "(the meetings)...will be promulgating a global set of resolutions on collecting and sharing information, screening passengers, using best practices, training security directors, and making sure that there is a global consensus on how airports are checked."
