'My Pro' Gives Online Subscription Platform For Business Promotion

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) - Trying to make a major splash in the tech world --a former personal trainer turned techy -- has started an online venture called My Pro.

It's designed to give a platform to people who want to get their message out with a series of video stories says WWJ's Laura Bonnell.

Founder Andrew McGarry says you can start your own following by producing videos and publishing them on the My Pro social site.

Your followers can subscribe to you monthly or a la cart.

McGarry says he came up with the idea after realizing there are a lot of people who have much to say and teach.

He started with some very famous people to demonstrate how it works, but says everyone has a story to tell:

"I've always said there are amazing people that are ... more on a micro level - they are more regional or local - or there are going to be people in colleges - the next generation of people that are going to transform the direction of our world," says McGarry, "they should have access to something like this."

McGarry says the difference between Facebook and My Pro is that with Facebook asks you to buy ads to promote your material, but with My Pro people pay you to view your material. You're in charge.

"The next level, or the next wave of technology needed, that's what we've come up with here - so it's far more than motivational, it educational - it's entertaining - it's a content resource hub for today and tomorrow."

You can subscribe to motivational stories, watch a series with chefs or authors and more.

The cost to set up your own information is free. To subscribe - the costs varies because the creator can charge whatever they like, but typically McGarry says its between 99 cents to $2.99 a month.

And if you don't want to commit that much time he says - you can buy one segment at a time.
