My First Baseball Game: Detroit Tigers vs. NY Yankees
Last night, the Detroit Tigers thrashed the New York Yankees! Yes, the Yankees! The "Bronx Bombers." This hit home since I grew up in New Jersey and was forced to cheer on the Yankees because my brother is a huge fan.
Now that I am here in Detroit, I bleed "Tiger Blood" (wink, wink). Although, my big brother will be disappointed, I am the baby sister and that means I'll get away with it!
So, I decide to throw on "all-things-Tigers" last night. Down to orange earrings! It felt so natural to root for Detroit, which means the transition of becoming a Michigander is coming to fruition. It was a great feeling to walk into Comerica Park and see all the excited fans! It was surprising to see a good number of folks wearing New York Yankees shirts and hats. Either Yankees fan travel for the their team OR there are a lot of New Yorkers in Metro Detroit.
It was interesting to hear fans talking about the game. Warning, I eavesdrop on other people's conversations often! Most of it was funny and respectable. Sometimes Tigers fans would make fun of Derek Jeter or Alex Rodriguez, but it was all in good fun.
In terms of food, I had two hot dogs and LOVED it! I haven't had a hot dog in a long time, so it felt like I am definitely playing the part of being a good fan.
Overall, it was a great experience and glad to see the team win.
Hmmm…. Every time I wore this Tigers hat, they play awesome! I might have a lucky hat!
