Music, Wine, Paws Featured During Weekend Events
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, here are some happenings around town.
The first ever EDGE Memorial Ride takes place Saturday honoring Edwin Jolliffe and George Gorno at Gorno Ford on Allen Road in Woodhaven. There will be drawings, raffles and live music. The ride kicks off around noon. Proceeds will benefit Oakwood SouthShore and Henry Ford Wyandotte hospitals.
The Detroit Health Expo will be held Saturday on the Athletic Field of Belle Isle Park from 10am to 6 pm. This event will feature healthy cooking demonstrations and tasting events, free give-a-ways, prizes, live concert, dance and more.
The second annual Paws in the Park event will be held at Heritage Park on Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 5 p.m. Paws in the Park will host a one-mile Paw Walk to benefit the Humane Society of Huron Valley. Paws in the park will feature entertainment, adoptions, education, food and shopping for pet owners and their pets.
The city of Southfield will host its first SumMore Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and 2 to 6pm on Sunday at the Southfield Municipal Complex, 26000 Evergreen Road. The free community event will feature food, fun and entertainment for the whole family, including demonstrations from the Disc Dogs of Michigan and the Southfield K-9 Unit.
The Meadow Brook Music Festival is hosting its 10th Annual Wine and Food Festival on Saturday from 1 to 9:30 p.m. and 1 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Award winning wineries throughout the state and across the globe will be on hand showcasing more than 100 varieties of wine.
Detroit's own multi-Grammy Award winning singer Anita Baker performs at DTE Energy Music Theatre Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets for $49.50 and $35 pavilion and $10 lawn are available.
