3 Killed In Telegraph Road Rollover Crash
UPDATE 1/5: Victims IDed In Deadly Crash
DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Three people are dead following a rollover accident that shut down a stretch of Telegraph Road during Friday's afternoon drive.
Westbound Telegraph was closed between Ford Road and Warren in Dearborn Heights as well as westbound Ford Road at Outer Drive. Both roads have since reopened.
Police confirmed that there were three fatalities in the crash but did not immediately provide any information about the victims. Police said a fourth person was critically injured.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Stephanie Davis spoke with a witness at the scene who said a pickup truck ran a red light while traveling westbound on Ford and clipped a vehicle going northbound on Telegraph. Reports suggest that driver was running the light because he'd just been involved in a hit and run.
Hassan Beydoun, who works at the nearby Shell service station, said the car flew into the air about 30 feet and came crashing down into the median. It was completely crushed.
"We ran out to help and there was three people in the car, but I think that there was one man driving the pickup -- the one that ran the red light," said Beydoun. "The (people) in the front, they were gone, obviously. The one in the back was moving."
Witnesses said police arrived quickly on the scene.
