Multiple Accidents Plague Afternoon Commute
STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Monday's was a tough afternoon commute for Metro Detroiters, who dealt with multiple serious accidents.
A jackknife dump truck was causing some trouble in Sterling Heights.
Said WWJ Newsradio 950 listener, Ann, shortly after 5 p.m., "The fire department's there and they have that whole section of the south side of Ryan and 15 (Mile Road) blocked. Traffic is starting to already pile up between Dequindre and Ryan and, yes, it's a mess."
Also Monday afternoon, motorists were dealing with two major accidents in western Oakland County: On westbound I-96 near Milford Road, an accident left traffic backed up for miles. The accident was cleared late in the afternoon but congestion remained into the early evening.
Also, police said a major road closure in Salem Township was due to a fatal accident and investigation. One person was killed after a car hit a tree along 8 Mile Road between Pontiac Trail and Griswold.
