MSP Looking For Driver Who Parked Rig Along I-94
VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A follow up to the semi crash that left a Windsor semi driver in critical condition. A Michigan State Police fugitive apprehension team will be looking for the semi driver who parked his rig along I-94 near Haggerty road.
Police say the ex-wife of the driver called to let authorities know her ex-husband has parked the rig along the freeway and in a nearby rest area several times. She said he lives in an apartment complex nearby.
Van Buren Township police say they have had run-ins with the driver before. The prosecutor's office will ultimately decide if any criminal charges will be brought in the case.
Twenty-seven-year-old Mark Thibert of Windsor was critically burned after his rig loaded with liquor slammed into the parked steel hauler. Thibert was still listed in critical condition at the University of Michigan burn center Thursday morning.
The crash happened just around 4:00 am Wednesday. Authorities say the steel hauler was parked along the freeway since at least 1:30 Wednesday morning.
