Mount Pleasant Area Hit By String Of Armed Robberies
MOUNT PLEASANT (WWJ/AP) - Police are seeking tips from the public following a string armed robberies in mid-Michigan over the weekend.
According to the Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant and WSGW-AM, one robbery happened late Sunday night at a Subway restaurant in Mount Pleasant.
The Morning Sun reported this was the fourth armed robbery in the area in a 48-hour period -- and investigators believe the same suspect may be responsible for the robberies.
In all four cases, a lone man, described as a dark-skinned white man or a Hispanic-looking man, entered the store armed with handgun, demanded money, and escaped with the cash.
The Subway suspect was described as 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, wearing a blue hoodie, according to an alert sent by Central Michigan University police. He may be driving a dark-colored pickup truck.
No injuries have been reported. Other area businesses that have been robbed include a grocery store and a cash-advance outlet.
Police in Mount Pleasant are urging anyone who spots the suspect not to approach him and to dial 911. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call Isabella County Central Dispatch at 989-773-1000 or the Mount Pleasant Police tip line at 989-779-9111.
