Mother Found Murdered In Brownstown Township Home
UPDATE 11/2: Police ID Person Of Interest In Brownstown Woman's Shooting Death
BROWNSTOWN TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Brownstown Township say they have a murder mystery on their hands after a 46-year-old woman was found dead in her home on Halloween.
WWJ's Ron Dewey reports the woman was alone when she was found inside of her home in the 15000 block of Brantford Avenue, located off West Jefferson near the entrance to Lake Erie Metropark.
The woman's daughter, who attends Eastern Michigan University, couldn't get in touch with her mother and asked a friend to check on her, according to police. The friend reportedly found the mother dead in a bedroom and called police.
Investigators say they have no real clues as to what led to the woman's death. They said there were no signs of no forcible entry into the home, and the woman's car was still in the driveway upon her discovery on Wednesday.
Neighbors told investigators there's never been trouble from there and the woman usually kept to herself. They said the woman, who was divorced, had lived in the home with her daughter for several years.
Police say the woman's ex-husband and boyfriend were questioned, but are not considered suspects.
"If anybody does know anything, any type of tip at all we're striving for right now because we have no clue why this happened," Brownstown Township Police Lt. Robert Grant told WDIV.
Although police would not comment on how the woman was killed, they said her death is being investigated as a homicide at this point.
Investigators believe the last time the woman was seen alive was Tuesday evening.
