Morning Commuter Alert: Southfield Freeway Open
DETROIT (WWJ) - The Southfield Freeway is back up and running. This will be the first week day it's open since a major reconstruction project that got underway in May.
People who run businesses and who drive on the Southfield Freeway are glad to see it open ahead of schedule, like one man who told WWJ Newsradio 950 the closure was a hassle. "Just the inconvenience of not getting in that certain area. I do, like, little side jobs over there. It's hard to get in certain areas."
Sam Bazzi who manages a BP gas station on the Southfield service drive and Fenkell says business was down 50 percent when the freeway was closed. "Yes, a lot of people they come back, and I'm happy to see them back," Bazzi said.
Keep in mind, thought, that there may still be some lane restrictions into November.
