More Than 30 Hurt In Greyhound Bus Crash
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say 37 people were hurt when a Greyhound bus overturned on its way from Cincinnati to Detroit.
The accident happened at around 4 a.m. Saturday, along northbound I-75, in Lebanon. Ohio — about an hour into the trip.
Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the bus drove off the roadway near the 26 mile marker, struck a tree and metal fence, and then rolled over — coming to a stop on its side in a cornfield. There were 51 passengers on board, plus the driver.
Authorities talking to WWJ said injuries ranged from minor to severe, and there were no fatalities.
Greyhound spokeswoman Kim Plaskett said a total of 37 people were taken to area hospitals, but, as of noon, 15 of them had already been treated and released.
Six people were rushed to the hospital via Life Flight emergency helicopter.
Plaskett said those who were not hurt were taken by relief bus back to Cincinnati.
Authorities are not yet sure what caused the accident, as an investigation continues. Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff's officials are leading the investigation.
Those who may have had friends or family members on the bus and have questions may call a hotline set up by Greyhound: 1-800-972-4583.
