More Relief At The Pump!
DETROIT (WWJ) - Drivers are getting more relief at the pump, with gas prices going down once again.
One week ago, AAA Michigan and GasBuddy.com reported that gas prices in Detroit had fallen about 27 cents per gallon in the week prior. At that time, drivers in Detroit were paying an average of $3.88 for a gallon of regular unleaded, according to GasBuddy, while AAA Michigan said that the average price of gas in Metro Detroit was $3.909 per gallon.
As of Sunday, June 23, gas prices in Detroit had fallen 28.8 cents per gallon, according to GasBuddy, and were averaging $3.55 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
This compares with the national average that has fallen 3.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.57/gallon, according to GasBuddy.
Including the change in gas prices in Detroit during the past week, prices on Sunday were 0.8 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 29.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 9.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 12.0 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
"Relief continues to show up at pumps in the Great Lakes, while the opposite trend has started in California," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.
"Gasoline prices are certainly a bit wacky right now across the country with prices moving in difference directions, but from what we saw in the last few days with oil prices, I'm hopeful that most areas of the United States will see new or continued relief for at least the first half of this week, with some areas seeing a continued drop for most of this week," DeHaan said.
