More Details Coming Forward From Munson Park Plane Crash
DETROIT (WWJ) - We're hearing the 9-1-1 tapes from last week's plane crash in Monroe County's Munson Park. The crash killed three people.
Tapes obtained by the Associated Press give new details of the moments following the small plane crash in Monroe County.
"Right in back of Munson Park, an aircraft just crashed in the back here at Munson Park...it doesn't look like they had a chance," says the caller to 9-1-1. The operator replies that they have help on the way.
"A plane going down...it went down, it crashed, it's on fire," says the caller breathlessly to 9-1-1.
The single-engine Piper piloted by business owner Rick Howell went down in a grassy area of the park surrounded by volleyball and tennis courts.
Nobody on the ground was hurt.
