More Charges Could Come In Attempted Armed Robbery In Highland Twp.
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 12-year-old girl remains in a youth home following her arraignment on attempted armed robbery charges. Officials say the girl tried to rob the Country Lake Market in Highland Township Friday night.
Investigators are in the process of unraveling the unusual attempted armed robbery case in Highland Township.
"It wasn't a simple spur of the moment thing, she had to go, break into a house of a neighbors-get the gun, then cover it up herself as best she could with clothing attire, went into this place to commit an armed robbery, and then fought for the gun with the owners," Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard tells WWJ.
Bouchard says the girl tried to hide her identity and fought with store employees and was using a stolen gun. And, Bouchard says more charges could be coming.
"There'll be a continuing investigation into the burglary in which she acquired the weapon and probably charges will be brought on that as well. And, there's obviously doing your due diligence to make sure there aren't other crimes we're not aware of," says Bouchard.
