Monroe County Chooses Everbridge to Strengthen Emergency Communications
MONROE -- Monroe County has implemented an Everbridge interactive communication and mass notification system as part of its emergency communications strategy.
The system allows Monroe County to communicate quickly and effectively during severe weather emergencies.
Monroe County already has a well-developed outdoor warning siren system, but was looking for an alternative in less populated areas. Key criteria included reliability, redundancy, cost effectiveness, use of web-based technology, ease of use, and the speed at which Monroe County residents and visitors could be notified of critical events.
"Having Everbridge as a single system for all of our critical communications greatly increases our effectiveness in getting messages out to all the residents of Monroe County no matter what the issue may be," said Mark A. Hammond, Monroe County emergency management director. "County and local branches of government and their officials now have the ability to send emergency notifications to residents and their staff quickly and reliably, and can also send notifications that may affect their quality of life. This information can be communicated to residents in real time. Overall, the Everbridge system has streamlined the county's response to any kind of threat to our residents and community as well as improved our preparedness in helping to create a safer community to live in."
Added Imad Mouline, chief technology officer at Everbridge: "By adding Everbridge to their emergency communications strategy, Monroe County is now able to provide the people in their community – regardless of their proximity to or ability to hear sirens with severe weather and other emergency and non-emergency residential alerts. With Everbridge, Monroe County can contact emergency responders and individuals through a variety of contact paths including landline and mobile phones, SMS, email, and TTY ensuring that the county does not need to rely on only one method to contact individuals during an emergency."
