Mom Pleads For Answers In Son's Murder
DETROIT (WWJ) - A $2,500 reward is being offered for information in the shooting death of a 23-year-old man last month at a house party on the west side of Detroit.
WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports that the family is pleading for help.
Misty Brown said her 23-year-old son DeRon Brashears was one of the good guys-studying to be a dental assistant as well as excelling at his job in sales.
"He was silly, very silly, and always was the big brother - like he was the one that came home and tickled everyone," said DeRon's mom.
Every day she can't avoid the nightmare and relieves the terror DeRon must have felt running from the bullets in a drive by shooting into a group of people on August 26 at a home on Coyle Street in Detroit.
"People say take it one day at a time, and for me, it's taking it every minute, the pain is so unbearable," she said.
Brown said her son had just gotten off of work at the job at which he excelled and was studying to be a dental assistant. She says someone at the party knows why a shooter drove by and fired into the crowd, killing her son. She says if that person does not come forward.
"You are just letting them get away with it - and they are just going to keep on doing it, until they kill everyone," DeRon's mom said.
