MOD Pizza Brings Personalized Pizzas To Metro Detroit (Video)

LIVONIA (CBS Detroit) - A new restaurant brought to Michigan by TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants is redefining the fast-casual pizza concept - in just three minutes.
The first MOD Pizza opened Monday in a modern 2,600-square-foot space in Livonia, offering customers freshly made pizzas and salads.
But unlike some chains which charge customers by the topping, and then make them wait for their pies, MOD offers any amount of toppings for the same price for six-inch or 11-inch pizza.
"For $7.87 you are getting all that you want. You are paying for the size, not the toppings," said Jake Schostak, who is assisting with the initial openings and ongoing management MOD Pizza locations. You can get as much cheese, as much meat as much veggies as you want and you know it is going to stay that one reliable price
Each pizza has freshly pressed dough which is then created in assembly line fashion in front of customers who can choose from more than 30 toppings including sauces, cheeses, veggies, meats and toppings.
The pizza is then placed into an 800 degree, gas oven where it is cooked in just about three minutes.
Livonia is home to the first location for the Seattle-based company, which is expected to open 25 MOD Pizza locations in Michigan during the next five years.
The chain also offers local craft beers and wines, handspun milkshakes along with house-made lemonades and iced teas.
"We are really excited to finally be open," Schostak said. "We've been working really hard on this and we really proud of it and excited to share it with the rest of the state."
To celebrate the grand opening of the new restaurant at 13229 Middlebelt, MOD Pizza is offering a "pay what you want" day for customers. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Livonia Public Schools Education Foundation.
