Mobile 'Booty Lounge' Impounded In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A party bus that police say apparently illegally operated as a strip club for reveling Lions fans at a popular Detroit tailgating spot has been impounded.
The "Booty Lounge" bus was found parked Monday near Ford Field, where the Lions played the Chicago Bears. Police say it was cited for not having a state safety inspection and the driver didn't have a commercial license.
The bus was parked earlier Monday outside a bar in the Eastern Market area. Bus operator Joe Parsons had agreed to move it at the request of police and said he planned to park out of town. He has said Detroit has no ordinance against "mobile entertainment clubs."
According to the Detroit News, Police Sgt. Charles Spruce said Monday: "If they're in there and they have semi-dressed girls, or they're in there dancing nude or whatever, that's a violation. If we find illegal activities on the bus, we will confiscate the bus, and we will give the property owner, because he does possess a liquor license, a Michigan liquor license violation. The people on the bus will receive another kind of violation."
An email seeking comment from a "Booty Lounge" representative was sent Wednesday.
The "mobile strip club" has been under fire in recent months, including an investigation by the Detroit police after two officers allegedly got too close to the action.
