Minnesota 1, Wings 0
MINNESOTA (WWJ/AP) - The Detroit Red Wings had opportunities but lose to the Minnesota Wild 1-0 on Saturday night.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - the Wings fall to 5-4-0 -- losing four straight as Minnesota goes to 4-3-3.
Detroit pulled goalie Jimmy Howard the final minute plus but could not connect - coming up short on the last minute power play.
Howard made 19 saves for the Red Wings, who have lost four games in a row after a 5-0 start.
Josh Harding made 36 saves and Dany Heatley scored in the first period to lift the Minnesota Wild to the win.
Heatley's goal was his third of the season for the Wild, who overcame a 36-20 deficit in shots thanks to Harding's steady play in net.
Niklas Backstrom's backup has made only two starts for the Wild this season. Both of them have come at home, and Harding has stopped 74 of the 77 shots he's faced. He had 38 saves in a 3-2 loss to Detroit two weeks ago.
