Mike Valenti's Wednesday Watchers 10-24-12
DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) Mike Valenti is amazed at his own awful college football prediction streak, saying he's "right back in the toilet" after a brief winning respite.
So, what are this week's predictions?
*Kansas State +7 vs. Texas Tech; Kansas State murdered West Virginia last week, showing "this is a very down year in college football," Valenti said. Texas Tech is overinflated; Kansas State will win, he said. Kansas State can get to the national championships against Alabama -- but they can't win, he added. KSU is balanced, offensively and defensively, good enough to "put a hurting on you."
*Mississippi -24 vs. Alabama; Mississippi State has to be on the road, Alabama has taken care of their business, and they're "going to make a statement with this game," Valenti said. Mississippi State, with its young quarterback, is going to play into Alabama's hands. Mississippi in in for a rude awakening.
*Wisconsin, -6 vs. Michigan State; Michigan State may not score six points, Valenti said, adding they're playing multiple emotional games in a row and don't "have any juice left." With Wisconsin you're getting a quality defense and a much-improved offense, while MSU is running on an empty tank, he added.
*Georgia +7 vs. Florida; Florida isn't quite as good as their record says, Valenti believes, saying Georgia will rise up in this game.
*Nebraska, -2.5 vs. Michigan; It's a Nebraska revenge game at home, Valenti said. Nebraska doesn't win at home, he added, and if they lost once, they won't lose twice. Nebraska won't dominate on defense, U-M will score points, Valenti said. It's a tough spot for Michigan after a very physical game against Michigan State.
