Miguel Cabrera Wins An ESPY Award -- Easiest Pick Ever?

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) - After amassing All-Star break numbers that smash the mid-season statistics of his Triple Crown season of 2012, Miguel Cabrera is finally getting some national attention.
In what probably should have been the easiest award selection ever, the Detroit Tigers slugger won the distinction of Best MLB Player at the ESPYs Wednesday night.
Going into the All-Star break, Cabrera was batting .365 and had already totaled 30 home runs and 95 RBIs. Continuing on that pace would give Cabrera 52 homers and 152 RBIs by the end of the year. It might be unlikely, but few probably anticipated that Cabrera's numbers would be even better this season after winning a Triple Crown last year, when he finished the season with 44 homers, 139 RBIs and batted .330.
He was immortalized during the All-Star game with a Dos Equis spoof ad calling him the "most interesting man in the world."
Cabrera lost the title of Best Male Athlete to Miami Heat superstar LeBron James, who is widely known as the best player in basketball right now and who won his second NBA championship ring this June.
Also nominated to win Best MLB Player at the Los Angeles event were two players from California team, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout and San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey. Others being considered included Toronto Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey and Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price.
