CBS DETROIT - Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera gave fans some good news Monday, tweeting a photo of himself at a gym.
The message accompanying the photo: "Getting better every day! Thanks be to God!"
Cabrera underwent surgery on his right ankle Oct. 22 to remove bone spurs and repair a stress fracture to his navicular bone. The Tigers knew about the bone spurs ahead of time but did not expect the stress fracture.
While Cabrera's numbers dipped significantly from those he produced in his second-straight MVP season in 2013, he still managed what would be a banner year for most other players - a batting average of .313, 25 home runs and 109 runs batted in.
Despite the injuries, Cabrera missed hardly any time in 2014. He played in 159 of the team's 162 regular season games.
