Cabrera Has Fracture Under Right Eye

Details of Miguel Cabrera's injured right eye emerged today with news from Buster Olney's Twitter account. Olney reports that Cabrera has a small fracture under his right eye and he needed 8 stitches. Cabrera is said to be out only a couple of weeks.

Detroit Tigers Gm Dave Dombrowski while speaking with media today said that there is "no question the sunglasses helped protect Cabrera's eye." The injury is being called a non-displaced fracture orbital floor and he has fine vision. Dombrowski also said that Cabrera won't be doing any activity for a week and will be re-evaluated after that.

Much has been made about Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera moving back across the diamond this season, and his last play in Monday afternoon's spring game won't quiet any concerns from the masses of skeptics. He took a hard-hit grounder off his face -- off the bat of Phillies outfielder Hunter Pence.
