Miguel Cabrera Seems To Be Progressing At Third Base
While the Tigers are entering 2012 the overwhelming favorite to win the AL Central, lots of negative attention has been received for the move of Miguel Cabrera to third base. But Tigers manager Jim Leyland is digging his heels in. Not only is he sticking with Cabrera, he won't even be removing him late in the game for defensive purposes.
"He's the third baseman," Leyland said (MLB.com). "That's the way it is and I'm not 'defensing' for him. I've seen that too many times."
The "that" Leyland refers to is seeing his club lose a lead after removing Cabrera late a game and then facing the task of pulling out the win without Cabrera's bat in the lineup.
