Midtown Hit By Power Outage, Thousands Affected
DETROIT (WWJ) - Thousands of Detroiters are without power Friday evening, following a fire at a DTE substation.
A DTE Energy spokesperson tells WWJ that the fire happened around 8 p.m. at the Garfield substation, and roughly 3,000 customers have been affected.
No time has been given as to when power will be restored, as DTE is still continuing to clean-up from the fire.
The energy company is investigating to find out what caused the substation fire.
Much of the area affected by the outage includes Detroit's midtown.
