Michigan's Gas Prices Still Highest In Continental U.S.
DETROIT (WWJ) - For the second straight week, gas prices in Michigan continue to be the highest in the Continental United States. That's according to AAA Michigan, which says the increases follow ongoing refinery issues at several Midwest refineries.
Based on the latest AAA Michigan survey, gas prices statewide are averaging $4.215 per gallon; that's up 41.7 cents in a month and 48.5 cents more than this same time last year. The price is 4.4 cents less than Michigan's all-time high gas price average of $4.259, set on May 4, 2011.
In Metro Detroit, the average price for self-serve regular rose 13 cents over the past week, with the average at $4.194 per gallon. The price is 44.5 cents more than last month and 44.7 cents more than last year.
