DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Feeling flush -- or not so much? Here's something to put your finances in perspective.
Forbes Magazine revealed its annual list of the world's richest people Monday, and the 1,426 people on the list include 12 from Michigan. That means 10 percent of the billionaires' club resides right here in and around the Motor City.
Overall, the people on the billionaires' list are worth $5.4 trillion.
So, who's the top of the heap? In Michigan, it's Amway co-founder Dick DeVos, who is worth an estimated $5.1 billion. That ranks him at 239th worldwide. Also making the list are Detroit-based businessman Dan Gilbert, Lions owner William Clay Ford Sr., Ambassador Bridge owner Matty Maroun, and Mike and Marian Ilitch.
At the pinnacle of the worldwide list is Carlos Helu, a telecommunications giant from Mexico worth $73 billion, which he gets to lord over Bill Gates, who has a relatively paltry $67 billion.
