Michigan State To Review 3rd-party Booster Clubs
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan State has decided to review third-party booster clubs and to eliminate 50-50 raffles this fall at Spartan Stadium.
Athletic director Mark Hollis made the announcements Thursday, a week after the school suspended activities with the Downtown Athletic Club because the booster club is being investigated by the Michigan Lottery Commission.
The Downtown Coaches Club has run raffles at Michigan State football games, with half the pot going to the winning ticket-holder and half to the club. Ties to the organization were immediately suspended after Michigan State learned of the lottery investigation.
The lottery commission has declined to discuss details.
